Creating Deep Connection

What are the things that bring us closer together?  When we come together with others in a social context we have the opportunity to cultivate deep connections.

For me, I love to walk and talk.  When my husband, Marty, and I were dating we would take long walks that we found were the perfect way to get away from the day-to-day stressors that are a part of our lives.  We were able to focus on each other without any interruptions.   We just would walk and walk for hours talking about all the important things in our lives.  We really got to know each other.  I often think about those long walks with fondness.  I truly believe that had we not found this intimate way to communicate we may not have discovered the deep connection that has brought us so much pleasure, love and commitment to each other.

In those early days of our relationship we developed a common philosophy about life.  One of the key components we discovered centers on living in an intentional manner.  We discussed our core values and developed strategies to be sure that we would stay true to those important elements.  Together, we set the stage for what has become an enormous growth experience for me.

My relationship with Marty has been exactly what I needed to find my place in the world.  With his support I have reached deep into my soul to find spiritual awakening, conscious intention, and I have been able to live my passions.  My work is so fulfilling that it doesn’t feel like work.  I feel so fortunate to have found the relationship that is perfect for me.  I wish you the same kind of happiness that I have found.

Creating deep connection can take many forms.  I have shared a story about creating that connection with the person who became my spouse.  Others may tell the story of the relationship with a parent, a child, a friend.  All of these relationships have the potential for adding much to our lives.

When we create these kinds of strong relationships we are able to achieve a happier and more fulfilled life.
